I'm wondering which type of microscope can only be used to view non-living specimens?

Hi Julie, electron microscopes are the most powerful type of microscope, capable of distinguishing even individual atoms. However, as your question alludes to, electron microscopes can't be used to image living cells, because the electrons destroy samples.
