Why Students Love It
The Omano OM-118-M4 monocular microscope is the sister microscope to the OM118-M3 but with an additional 100x objective lens and a mechanical slide holder for easier slide handling. Recommended for K-12, students love this microscope because of its durable build, and its unique combination of features that make it an inspiring perfect learning tool.
Packed with Optimal Optics for Students
The Omano OM118-M4 is a high-power monocular microscope used for viewing cellular structures on slides. This student compound microscope features:
- An ocular angled at an ergonomic 45 degrees that rotates through 360 degrees for flexible viewing.
- A single WF10x eyepiece that combines four achromatic objectives lenses (4x, 10x, 40x spring, 100x spring oil immersion).
- Magnification levels of 40x, 100x, 400x and 1,000x.
… so when students move on to studying microscopy in post-secondary institutions or pursuing a scientific career, they’re already equipped with the hard skills they need to thrive.
Goodbye, Weak Illumination!
The OM118-M4 is built with a professional Abbe 1.25 N.A condenser to train students how to use professional-grade tools, should they decide to pursue further education in the sciences.
It also includes transmitted 20w incandescent illumination that allows for variable intensity.
If you just don’t like your Omano microscope and want to send it back after a few weeks of use, do it. We’ll take it back with no questions asked.
If you have a problem with it 30 years from now, we’ll fix it. We made a decision decades ago that we would offer a lifetime limited warranty because we know we don’t have to worry about quality issues.

Focus on the Stage
The OM118-M4 includes a plain stage with a mechanical slide holder that enables easy slide movements on the stage, perfect for inexperienced or beginner students.
The focusing mechanism on the OM118-M4 is unique, and built to keep students focused and engaged. The mechanism features a rack and pinion design for durability and coaxial coarse and fine focus controls. We recommend coaxial coarse/fine focus controls since they enable 'eyes down' focusing. In other words, the viewer does not constantly need to look up in order to find the other focus control.
Additional safety features include:
- A rack stop to ensure that the stage does not interfere with the objectives and cause damage to the slide.
- A slip clutch control to mitigate the risk of damaging the focus controls through overextension.
- Immersion oil
… among other image-enhancing benefits that make image capture and sharing easy. Just add on a camera with the MP of your choice before you pop this microscope into your cart.
Swap Out that Hard Eyepiece for Soft Imaging
Technology is a part of our day-to-day lives. Weaning students off technology and putting them onto a microscope is a challenge for many educators.
What if there was a way to combine a love of technology with a passion for microscopy?
This OM118-M4 microscope comes with a 1.3MP digital microscope camera to make this compound microscope into a digital microscope in an instant.
These microscope cameras are known for their remarkable color resolution and color sensitivity, meaning your students can study bright, clear, and vivid images under their scope.
KoPa Cam Software
A digital microscope camera comes with robust documentation and measuring software that your students will love using to play around with their images. This Windows-only software offers a comprehensive range of features including measuring software, drawing tools and annotation:
- Fast refresh rates (range from 15fps at 2592 x 1944 (maximum resolution) to 40fps at 1280 x 960)
- Auto/manual exposure
- White balance control
- Fullscreen live imaging
- Time-lapse photography
- User-friendly image capture
- Image formats: JPG, PNG, BMP, and PDF
Controls & Operation
Your students can download the KoPa Cam app for free and connect to the KoPa network within their device’s WiFi settings. The microscope camera uses an internally-located antenna to optimize the WiFi signal performance in learning environments.
The camera features a standard C-mount interface to fit any microscope with a C-mount adapter. In addition, the camera has a tripod mount on the base, allowing for use as a stand-alone imaging device (with a C-mount standard macro or zoom lens fitted). The KoPa AIR camera also features a 5000mAh lithium Ion battery, capable of operating for 8 hours on a full charge.
