The Omano OM-118-M4 monocular microscope is the sister microscope to the OM118-M3 but with an additional 100x objective lens and a mechanical slide holder for easier slide handling. Recommended for K-12, students love this microscope because of its durable build, and its unique combination of features that make it an inspiring perfect learning tool.
The OM36 is built with young, learning students in mind. From 25 years of building microscopes, we picked up some ways to incorporate features to interest and engage your students throughout your lesson plan.
Packed with Optimal Optics for Students
The Omano OM118-M4 is a high power monocular microscope used for viewing cellular structures on slides. This student compound microscope features:
An ocular angled at an ergonomic 45 degrees that rotates through 360 degrees for flexible viewing.
A single WF10x eyepiece that combines four achromatic objectives lenses (4x, 10x, 40x spring, 100x spring oil immersion)
Magnification levels of 40x, 100x, 400x. and 1,000x.
Goodbye, Weak Illumination!
The OM118-M4 is built with a professional Abbe 1.25 N.A condenser to train students how to use professional-grade tools, should they decide to pursue further education in the sciences.
It also includes transmitted 20w incandescent illumination that allows for variable intensity.
If you just don’t like your Omano microscope and want to send it back after a few weeks of use, do it. We’ll take it back with no questions asked.
If you have a problem with it 30 years from now, we’ll fix it. We made a decision decades ago that we would offer a lifetime limited warranty because we know we don’t have to worry about quality issues.

Focus on the Stage
The OM118-M4 includes a plain stage with a mechanical slide holder that enables easy slide movements on the stage, perfect for inexperienced or beginner students.
The focusing mechanism on the OM118-M4 is unique and built to keep students focused and engaged. The mechanism features a rack and pinion design for durability and coaxial coarse and fine focus controls. We recommend coaxial coarse/fine focus controls since they enable 'eyes down' focusing. In other words, the viewer does not constantly need to look up in order to find the other focus control.
Additional safety features include:
A rack stop to ensure that the stage does not interfere with the objectives and cause damage to the slide.
A slip clutch control to mitigate the risk of damaging the focus controls through overextension.
Swap Out that Hard Eyepiece for Soft Imaging
The OM118-M4 includes a plain stage with a mechanical slide holder that enables easy slide movements on the stage, perfect for inexperienced or beginner students.
What if there was a way to combine a love of technology with a passion for microscopy?
You can pair the OM118-M4 with a digital microscope camera to make this compound microscope into a digital microscope in an instant. The Summit Series cameras are known for their remarkable color resolution and color sensitivity, meaning your students can study bright, clear, and vivid images under their scope.
In addition, the 0.5x reducing lens makes for an image that is significantly closer to that seen through the eyepieces with the naked eye. A microscope camera comes with robust documentation and measuring software that your students will love using to play around with their images.
Other features of microscope cameras include:
Fast refresh rates
Auto/manual exposure
White balance control
Fullscreen live imaging
Time-lapse photography
User-friendly image capture
